What Is Therapy?

During therapy sessions I will help you change the limiting belief sets that are keeping you stuck in your undesirable thoughts, feelings and/or behaviours enabling you to take back control.  Typically the negative beliefs fall into one of two categories: ‘I’m not good enough’; or ‘I’m not safe’, and often have their roots in childhood, during the formative years.  These beliefs shape our identity, how we see ourselves, and how we show up in the world.  I use effective and rapid therapies that can help you release painful emotions from past traumatic events even where traditional therapies such as counselling have failed.

What Is Coaching?

Coaching is very much about moving you forward to achieve your future goals.  Once we have identified and changed the beliefs that are holding you back. I help you decide and agree on the next step you need to take to move forward, and hold you accountable to do what you say you you’re going to do.  So many people have big goals and dreams, but give up working on them as soon as the going gets tough.  The truth is that successful people work hard to achieve their success, it doesn’t happen by chance.  Coaching helps keep you focused and motivated on doing the things that you need to do, to achieve the things you want to achieve.

My Approach

The fact that you’re here on my site indicates that something is not quite right in your life, or that you have some sort of problem.  Perhaps you have a habit or compulsion that you would like to be free of?  Or maybe you’re plagued with unpleasant feelings, such as fear, anxiety, self-doubt, guilt or loss?   Or do you feel that you’re stuck in a rut, doing the same old thing over and over again.   When willpower, self-talk, self-help books, medication, or talking therapies, haven’t worked for you, or don’t appeal to you, then look no further… I offer a fresh approach.

The service I offer is really unique in that I mix together a number of pretty amazing, rapid, cutting edge, therapies and techniques (including Hypnotherapy, Eye Movement Therapy, Neuro-linguistic Programming, Breathwork Techniques, Havening and Meridian Tapping) to bring about a very rapid change.  These therapies are aimed at the unconscious mind, unlike traditional therapies such as counselling and CBT, and can produce fantastic results where traditional therapies have failed.

I appreciate that you may have had your issue for a very long time, and maybe you’re sceptical as to whether or not I can help you.  Most of my clients require between just 1 and 5 sessions, for a huge change in the way they think, feel, or behave.  I’ll discuss prices and the number of sessions I estimate you’ll need for your issue at the time of enquiry.  Given the benefits you will gain from overcoming your problem I’m confident that my rates are so reasonable that you’ll wonder why you didn’t come to see me sooner.  Don’t just take my word for it see what my clients say.  Read some of the many positive testimonials here on this site that my clients have given on Facebook and Google about my services, then get the ball rolling and give me a call.

Dawn

Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy

Everyone has a different idea of what hypnosis is.  Some of my clients think they will be in a very relaxed state, some think they will be asleep, and others have absolutely no idea what to expect.  Hypnosis is NOT a state of eyes close and therefore often I will work with clients whilst their eyes are wide open and they are perfectly able to talk to me. Each individual will have a different experience of hypnosis, and each time you go into hypnosis that experience can differ.

You can think of your mind as having two parts, the ‘subconscious’ part and the ‘conscious’ part. The subconscious part of your mind can be likened to a 9-year old child: imaginative; emotional; and illogical. It chooses to do something, or not to do something, either to make you happy or to protect you in some way (although to your logical conscious mind this might not be clear to you). The conscious mind on the other hand, is critical and logical, and weighs everything up. I am sure that from time to time you do something that later you regret and then ask yourself “Why did I do that?” The answer is simple, your subconscious, emotional mind had taken over. Unwanted habits and behaviours are choices made by that child-like subconscious mind,  It does not stop to weigh up the consequences, it just acts – just like a child would. When you later ask yourself “Why did I do that?” your conscious mind has kicked back in and is searching desperately for an explanation. Hypnosis allows us to bypass the logical conscious mind and communicate directly with that child-like subconscious mind, so that we can ask it to behave in a different way that is more beneficial to you.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

A form of eye movement therapy, and a highly effective and speedy way of resolving traumas.  Originally developed by Francine Shapiro in 1987 for the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), it has since been used to effectively treat many other disorders. I will ask you to follow my fingers, as I guide you through a series of eye movements.  During the session you might experience: physical sensations; changes in thoughts and internal dialogue; and/or fluctuating feelings as we process your trauma, or conflict.  This ‘processing’ allows the brain to let go of the negative emotions associated with the event and retain any positive learning, leading to dramatic changes in the way you think and feel.

Havening

Dr Ronald Ruden developed this incredibly simple yet effective psychosensory technique called Havening.  In Havening, the upper arms, face and hands are stroked gently whilst at the same time undertaking simple tasks such as counting, visualising and humming.  The stroking can be done by the therapist or self-administered.  Havening is a simple process which can be easily learned and it’s one of my favourite tools for dissolving anxious feelings, cravings and traumatic memories.

Neuro-linguistic Programming

NLP was developed in the 1970’s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder.  It’s the science of understanding how people organise their thinking, feeling, language and behaviour to produce the results they do.  You might think of NLP as a user manual for the brain, it can help you communicate with your own brain more effectively so that you can produce the results you want.  There are many facets to NLP but an example of one of those facets is the way we represent things internally.  For example, you may not have paid too much attention to how you internally represent things, however we all tend to make pictures in our mind, talk to ourselves, and experience physical feelings.   Using NLP we can change these internal representations by manipulating the pictures we see, the voices we hear, and the sensations we feel.  By gaining insights into how we do the things we do well, we can apply these methodologies to the things that we don’t do well to get better results.

Meridian Tapping Therapies

Dr Roger Callahan developed a technique called Thought Field Therapy (TFT) which involves tapping on meridian points in a prescribed order whilst focusing on an unwanted feeling, thought or sensation.  It is believed that this facilitates the healing process that allows the issue to dissipate.  Gary Craig later developed this energy therapy further with his Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) which involves tapping on the same sequence of meridian points regardless of the problem.  I often introduce clients to these psychosensory techniques as they are both easy to learn, and self-administer.  They can be very effective in dissolving cravings, and feelings of anger, fear, panic, and anxiety.

My Story

I first became fascinated by hypnosis in 2001, when I decided to try hypnotherapy to kick my 60-a-day smoking habit.  I walked away from that hypnosis session with absolutely NO desire to smoke ever again.

This experience impacted positively on many areas of my life, and made such an impression on me that I decided to train as a hypnotherapist.  Since then, I have continued my personal journey with hypnotherapy: overcoming PTSD arising from childhood traumas; social anxiety; overcoming a fear of heights; a phobia of spiders; building my successful and rewarding business; and I’ve ended my unhealthy relationship with alcohol.

Over the years I’ve added many therapeutic and coaching disciplines to my toolkit.  I continue to research and learn new skills and I’m dedicated to helping others find their path to freedom.  There is nothing that gives me more satisfaction than the way a clients face lights up when they realise they have achieved the change they wanted.

I would be honoured to help you overcome your challenges and discover what you’re really capable of.

Send me a message or give me a call and we’ll have a no-obligation chat.

YOU WILL BE SO GLAD YOU TOOK THE FIRST STEP.
